Slot RTP Benchmark by Provider

Average RTP across nine major slot providers, from 94.87% to 96.66%. The real spread is inside each portfolio, not between studios.

Across the nine largest providers in our catalog, average RTP runs from 94.87% to 96.66% — a spread of 1.79 percentage points. That is narrower than most people expect, and it is the first useful finding: studios do not compete on headline RTP. The variation that matters sits inside each portfolio, where single providers span four or five points from their lowest game to their highest.

Average RTP (dot) against each provider's own lowest-to-highest range (bar). The spread within a studio is often wider than the gap between studios.

Two patterns are worth naming. Pragmatic Play's internal spread (6.19pp) is more than three times the gap between the highest and lowest provider average. A single studio covers more RTP ground than the whole top tier does between studios. And the providers with the tightest spreads — Betsoft at 1.30pp, Endorphina at 2.10pp — are running a deliberate house standard rather than tuning per title.

What this means if you are greenlighting a game

Benchmarking your RTP against a provider average is close to useless, because the averages cluster in a 1.8-point band that tells you nothing about positioning. The decision worth making is where you sit inside your own range. If you are a studio with a tight spread, a game outside it will feel off-brand to the operators who already carry you. If you are building for a specific operator, their existing shelf is the benchmark, not the industry. And treat anything above roughly 96.5% as a commercial choice you need a reason for — at that level you are giving up margin, which only pays back through retention or volume you can actually demonstrate.

Method and limits

Figures are averages across every title we hold for each provider, computed from our own structured math records rather than from provider marketing material. "Internal spread" is simply the provider's highest recorded RTP minus its lowest.

What this does not show. These are averages, not medians — a provider with a handful of very low-RTP legacy titles will read lower than its typical release. Title counts differ by an order of magnitude (904 against 54), so the averages are not equally stable; Betsoft's 1.30pp spread partly reflects having 54 games rather than 904. Many slots ship with several configurable RTP settings and operators choose one, so a single recorded figure per title is a simplification of what players actually see. We hold no revenue or retention data, so nothing here says which RTP level performed. And coverage of older releases is thinner than of recent ones, which pulls these averages toward the current generation of games.

FAQ

What is a normal RTP for a slot in 2026? Among major providers the averages sit between 94.9% and 96.7%. Individual titles range much wider — from 91% to just over 98% in this set.

Which provider has the highest RTP? Of the nine measured here, BGaming averages highest at 96.66%. But the gap to the lowest average is under two points, so this is a weak basis for choosing a studio.

Why do you use averages instead of medians? Averages are what our snapshot reports for a provider portfolio. For a skewed portfolio a median would be more representative, so where a provider has legacy outliers, read the range alongside the average rather than the average alone.
